A tiny egg laid in a tree,
A tiny bird hatched forth,
How difficult it's life is set to be,
But tragically cut short,
The parents nowhere to be seen,
The tiny baby fell,
Since in the wind the tree does lean,
The nest lurches sharply as well,
Falling, falling, hits the ground,
It's tiny body breaks,
It's left alone, will it be found?
And now, my heart, it aches,
The tiny baby, on it's own,
For Mother, hear it cry,
Please God don't leave it on it's own,
Not on it's own to die,
The whole thing reeks of unfairness,
This tiny, innocent thing,
Is it only me that could care less,
That it will never take wing?
I watched this tiny bird grow strong,
From egg to fluffy chick,
Oh Jesus this is so fucking wrong,
If God exists, he's blatently a dick,
If there is fairness in this world,
It should be proven here,
It's on it's own out in the cold,
On it's own in fear,
I'm thinking of you, baby bird,
I hope you'll be alright,
I hope that Mother comes to you,
And holds you through the night,
I hope your little body heals,
I hope that you go strong,
I hope you know how bad I feel,
How much I know it's wrong,
I won't forget you, baby bird,
I'll remember you forever,
I only wish I'd, just once, heard,
Your song, but now I'll never,
I know you would have been so strong,
So magestic in your flight,
I'll dream of taking wing with you,
Every single night,
So don't despair, my baby bird,
It's ok for you to go,
You'll be remembered in the written word,
For longer than you'll know.
